About Exchange Day:

Exchange Day is a nationwide event that brings awareness about cultural exchange and diversity. Exchange Day gives participants of the Summer Work and Travel program the opportunity to give back to their local communities, experience volunteerism in the United States and to have some fun, too.

​

Exchange Day was first piloted in the summer of 2014 by three State Department-designed sponsors: Greenheart International, Cultural Exchange Network (CENET), and Spirit Cultural Exchange in partnership with the Alliance for International Exchange. In 2020, there were over 52 Exchange Day events across 20 different states and the District of Colombia. These include food and shoe donations, a lifeguard Olympics competition, a school supply drive, environmental rehabilitation projects, and coastal clean-up activities.
